When everyone is worried AI that it will replace humans, Infosys founder Murthy believes that this advanced technology will only assist humans.

In a recent interview, Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy dismissed concerns about the replacement of humans by artificial intelligence (AI).

Last week, Murthy spoke at the 67th Foundation Day of the All India Management Association (AIMA) and expressed his belief that technology will never replace human beings.

According to him, AI fulfils its role as an ‘assistance’ tool as well as bridging the gap in many areas.

Recently there have been a lot of talks regarding the latest technologies and artificial intelligence. The majority of people are worried that AI will replace them in their current job roles. But several noted personalities have dismissed this claim and said that AI will only assist humans in advancement.

The debate on the possible impact of AI on humans was fueled again in the last couple of months when two words — ChatGPT and Bard came into the picture.

In the recent past, Murthy has also expressed his opinion on AI-based chatbots and stated that it is a technology that should be embraced.

He argued against banning ChatGPT in educational institutions. The ChatGPT, which is powered by artificial intelligence, will next enter students’ daily lives, he continued.

ChatGPT or Conversational Generative Pre-trained Transformer is a large-scale language model that was created by OpenAI. It’s an artificial intelligence (AI) system that can assist users with replies that are exactly like how a human responds, thanks to the huge amount of natural language questions or prompts.

While on the other hand, Google Bard is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Google. It is intended to provide users with precise and accurate responses to their inquiries. It is built on a substantial language model that was trained using enormous amounts of web-based data.

But now since the noted personalities stressed that there is nothing to worry about, Murthy added that humans “have the power of the mind” which no machine can compete with.

Besides explaining that AI promises to free up human creativity and productivity, he also reminded people of their initial apprehensions when computers and smartphones were invented.

“Many thought at one point of time that all these computers will make us more free. It has not happened.”

He concluded that humans will remain one step ahead of the technologies and can master these technologies.

Murthy recently discussed the work culture in India at the Asia Economic Dialogue hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He said that the majority of people lack the culture that is necessary to realise their dreams, while only a small portion of society makes the effort to do so.
