Move over Python — Rust is the highest paying language
Python has been the most popular programming language for quite some time. Python overtook Java, JavaScript as the most popular programming language for the first time in 20 years in October 2021 ranking.

However, it is not the highest paying programming language. A recent report by The Next Web says Rust has emerged as the highest paying programming language of 2021. This report is based on a study conducted by tech training company O’Reilly. As per the study, programmers who code in Rust got the highest average salary when compared to other languages like Python.

What made Rust the highest paying programming language
The author of the O’Reilly study, Mike Loukides, said that the high demand for Python programmers is continuously fulfilled by the huge supply. “There are boot camps turning out Python programmers by the thousands,” he added. This equilibrium in the demand and supply of Python coders keeps the salary (price) in check.

The demand for Rust coders is small, but the supply is even smaller. Hence companies end up paying a higher price for Rust coders.

As per the study, some of the jobs that Rust programmers are paid highly are software engineers, backend engineers, blockchain engineers.
