According to the company, shortlisted applicants with extensive experience creating games and establishing high-liquidity marketplaces will be guided by a team in developing better Web3 games.

Tegro, a Web3 games marketplace, announced a $1 million grant for Web3 game developers on May 17, as the field gains traction as crypto and blockchain-based apps gain traction.

Developers can apply for up to $25,000 per project under the programme. According to the company, shortlisted applicants with extensive experience creating games and establishing high-liquidity marketplaces will be guided by a team in developing better Web3 games.

According to Tegro co-founder Siddharth Menon, game development and publishing are complex processes in and of themselves. Developers may be unaware of the slew of tasks behind these words, let alone the challenges of creating Web3 games with long-term economics.

Web3 is the next generation of the internet, which will be decentralised and based on blockchain technology.

Tegro will be launched in February 2022 by Menon, who co-founded cryptocurrency exchange WazirX and Pune-based game development firm SuperGaming.

Tegro is developing a game-asset marketplace that will allow players, traders, and institutional investors to trade, hold, and play with game assets. It will also provide asset statistics to assist them in trading and investing more effectively.

Developers will be able to use the startup’s market software development kits (SDKs) and application programming interfaces (APIs) to create games and economies for a worldwide audience.
