The UK is one of the most popular immigration destinations, but due to stringent immigration regulations, getting a visa has never been simple. However, the environment for immigration has significantly shifted in recent years.
The United Kingdom is one of the top destinations for immigrants, but obtaining a visa has never been easy due to strict immigration laws.
But now the immigration landscape has changed considerably in recent years, and today, Yash Dubal, immigration expert and director of A Y & J Solicitors, says that aside from work visas, there are a number of other visa routes that might be beneficial to entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, and startups.
UK Innovator Founder Visa
In April, the UK government replaced the Innovator and Start-up visas with a new category of visas. This visa comes with a number of advantages, such as no minimum investment requirement, fewer check-ins with endorsing authorities, authorization for side jobs, and a straight route to UK residence.
This visa comes with a validity of three years and the application fee for this Innovator Founder route is £1036, and applicants must also pay the immigration health surcharge.
The Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visit
Those who wish to visit the UK for temporary engagements within their field can use the PPE Visit visa. These visas are commonly used by artists, entertainers, musicians, sportspersons, examiners, lecturers, and lawyers.
Validity: This visa grants access for up to a month and is suitable for individuals aged 18 and above. The current application fee for a PPE Visit visa stands at £100.
The UK Expansion Worker
Employees of established overseas businesses can apply for this visa option as part of the Global Business Mobility (GBM) visa program, which replaces the Sole Representative Visa.
The UK Expansion Worker visa is valid for 12 months after the job's start date listed on the sponsorship certificate, 14 days following that date, or 14 days following the termination date of the job, whichever comes first.
The Global Talent visa
For individuals at either the beginning or early stages of their careers in fields such as science, engineering, technology, medicine, art and humanities, this visa category is designed for those who are considered to be leaders or potential leaders in academia, research, culture, and digital technology. A job offer is not required, so individuals are able to come to the UK without any job offer. It replaced the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa in 2020.
GTV holders can take work for an employer, become self-employed or become directors of a company, but any work should be within the field for which they have been endorsed. If they do not hold an international prize such as the Nobel prize, they need to be endorsed by one of six bodies based in the UK.
