Software architect is the top earning profile for the second year in a row
TeamLease found that software architects continue to earn the highest salaries among IT professionals, even when cloud architects and “product managers” entered the picture.
Despite the IT industry’s lingering concern over the “great resignation,” “ software architects” have maintained their status as the highest paid professionals for the second year running.
TeamLease found that software architects continue to earn the highest salaries among IT professionals, even when cloud architects and “product managers” entered the picture.
An increase of 30% year-over-year, the average income of software architects with 2–6 years of experience was 25.5 lakh. A software architect simplifies the development cycle by making architectural decisions and outlining standards for programming languages, development environments, and deployment platforms. According to C Sunil, CEO of TeamLease Digital, this position has been the highest-paid IT job in India for the past two years.
According to professionals in the field, software architects play a crucial role in every stage of software development, from problem-solving and project management to designing the system’s underlying architecture. They are crucial to the design process since they determine the software engineers’ nature and how best to minimise costs.
Even though “architect” may sound like a title, it’s actually a profession that calls for a wide range of soft skills, such as the ability to influence, participate, and lead in a variety of contexts, in addition to a deep understanding of and dedication to the technical aspects at play (technical and functional).
The second highest paid occupation is “cloud architect,” which includes the roles of defining cloud architecture, developing a cloud strategy, and overseeing cloud deployment. Their salaries increased by 25% from the previous year, averaging 21 lakh ($95,000 — $40,000) per year.
Before overseeing the product’s development from inception to release, the product manager coordinates the product’s parameters with the technical team. They are in charge of developing an operational plan that can contribute to the vision of the product strategy and help achieve strategic and tactical goals and objectives. The average wage for a product manager was $16.3 million in 2015, up 28% from 2014. Salaries for product managers ranged from $6 to $35 million.
According to the survey, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and full stack developers occupied the following three slots.
The digital growth in both the technology and non-technology sectors is projected to keep the demand-supply gap of tech skills in the IT sector at a high level for the foreseeable future. IT salaries are expected to remain on the upper end as corporations continue to take on new initiatives despite the growing automation of enterprises and a skills crunch.
