The developer of one of the world’s most popular battle royale games, PUBG, plans to create new artificial intelligence-powered virtual humans. This is the company’s first foray into the metaverse environment.

Krafton’s focus will be on creating realistic virtual avatars for use in games, eSports, and as virtual influencers and singers. Krafton intends to create digital avatars of humans using hyperrealism character manufacturing technology.

The company intends to use various technologies, such as text-to-speech, speech-to-text, voice-to-face, and artificial intelligence, to improve the communication capabilities of virtual humans.

The company claims that its virtual human will have realistic features such as motion-captured dynamic movements, pupil movements, a wide range of facial expressions, and skin hair. Krafton has also announced a $2.5 million investment in Seoul Auction Blue and a $4.1 million investment in XBYBLUE recently.

In addition, the company signed an agreement to develop projects centred on non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Krafton CEO CH Kim previously stated that the company would actively pursue new technology in order to provide unique experiences to gamers and creators. As Metaverse consent grows in popularity, numerous companies worldwide are making moves to capitalise on this new technology.

According to Krafton, digital humans will play an important role in the Metaverse by representing real people in the virtual world. Initially, the options for virtual avatar customisation would be limited to outfits and skins. The company believes that as people gain access to the Metaverse, the demand for virtual avatars will skyrocket.
