The popular bitcoin wallet MetaMask has introduced Apple Pay functionality to its app and website. While Apple does not support cryptocurrency payments directly, MetaMask users will be directed to Wyre, a cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to purchase and sell bitcoin. Users will now have the option to pay using a credit or debit card via Apple Pay.

Apple Pay users may deposit a daily maximum of $400 into their wallet using their Visa or Mastercards and the Wyre API.

For those unfamiliar with MetaMask, it is a cryptocurrency wallet service that allows users to store cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, and even NFTs. Users may connect to over 3,700 distinct decentralised applications and Web 3 services using it.

On Twitter, the cryptocurrency firm revealed a series of new updates. MetaMask charges a gas price as well as its transaction fees of 0.875 per cent of the transaction to add any coin. MetaMask claims that it does not profit from the gas tax, but rather from the transaction fee it charges.

It should be mentioned that to utilise any Apple Pay platform, the KYC (know-your-customer) process must be completed. The company now supports private blockchains.” Some networks allow for gasless transactions (e.g. private blockchains, or when a project/protocol pays for the gas on your behalf),” the firm wrote on Twitter, adding that it now supports these.

As per the press release, MetaMask said that it had reached 30 million monthly active users, making it one of the most popular cryptocurrency wallets on the market.
