Here’s how online gaming platform, Zynga celebrates their LGBTQ+ workforce

Pride Month has become an essential month for almost all companies across the globe. And during this month, Zynga, a global leader in interactive entertainment, celebrates their LGBTQ+ workforce.

Diversity and Inclusion have become an essential part of almost every company across the globe. Zynga, a global leader in interactive entertainment, is no different from other tech firms that are celebrating their LGBTQ+ workforce during the ongoing Pride month of June. In an exclusive interview with TechGig, Paul A. Mondal reveals how the company celebrates diversity in the workplace and supports the LGBTQ+ workforce.

1. Is there an exclusive group/community for the LGBTQ+ workforce in your company?
Yes, there is, and we call it Zpride. This organisation aims to create an affirmative space that encourages employees to bring their authentic selves into the workplace by providing opportunities to socialise, participate in community outreach, and contribute to efforts to improve our communities for all employees, players, and fans.

2. What are the upskilling needs of the LGBTQ+ community?
The LGBTQI+ community needs to upskill to get fair changes and opportunities at their workplaces. They need to feel comfortable being themselves, and that is where we provide a supportive and affirming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ employees through social events and virtual communication spaces.

3. What initiatives are lined up in your company?
Throughout Pride Month, we have a celebratory lineup of in-game features, social integrations, employee spotlights, and pride events to promote LGBTQIA2S+ inclusivity, diversity, and belonging. On a global scale, Zpride has organised webinars on family building and health this month. We are a gaming company, and no celebration is complete without a few rounds of games. This includes Video game character day, Quirky hat/hair day and participating in workshops with GaymerX learning the Best Practices for Integrating LGBTQIA+s Content in Games. We have presentations lined up for the 1969 Stonewall Inn Riots to build awareness. And to keep spirits raised high, there are other fun activities such as the Soundtrack of Life- an audio presentation of the favourite music of the people from the community and drag queen events and more. We are also looking at having a special lunch/snack and dress code day in the planning.
