This article lists the top 5 programming languages that will allow you to build your own robot. However, it’s difficult to master all of them because there are almost 25000 programming languages in the world. In addition, the type of robot you are building has a substantial impact on how you implement language.

Robot programming refers to the process of developing a set of rules to govern how a robot operates in its environment and accomplishes its goals. This is where Robotics programming languages come in handy.

This article lists the top 5 programming languages that will allow you to build your own robot.

However, it’s difficult to master all of them because there are almost 25000 programming languages in the world. In addition, the type of robot you are building has a substantial impact on how you implement language. One of the most crucial components of being a roboticist is being able to apply one’s knowledge and common sense in the correct way at the right moment; if you can do this, you can build your own robot!

1. C/C++:
C/C++ are two of the most common programming languages used for robotics. Why? because many robotics hardware libraries support one of these languages. These libraries supply real-time functionality, low-level hardware interfacing, and extremely advanced programming languages. These days, you’re definitely using C++ more than C, even though C is still a powerful language.

2. MATLAB:
MATLAB is a popular tool among robotics engineers for data analysis and controls system development. It finds widespread application in scientific studies and data analysis. MATLAB also has a popular Robotics Toolbox for developing robots. Full robotics systems can be developed by robotics engineers using only MATLAB.

3. LISP:
Among the earliest programming languages, Lisp was developed initially to handle the mathematical notation required by computers. Many crucial parts of ROS (Robot Operating System) are written in Lisp, making it a valuable tool in robotics. Lisp is a crucial language in the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence).

4. PASCAL:
Many languages used by industrial robots have their roots in PASCAL, one of the earliest computer languages. Therefore, it is still a fantastic starting point if you want to learn how to programme industrial robots.

5. Scratch:
Scratch is used annually by thousands of aspiring roboticists all across the world. Because of its focus on beginner programmers, this visual programming language is widely used in school technology programmes and robotics clubs.
