Apple’s next big hardware product will be a mixed reality headset, and it is coming as early as next year. The product is going to be pricy and might be aimed at the developer community.
As per insides, Apple is planning to launch its premium headset with advanced chips, display, sensor by the next year. It will be MR based product that will only work in tandem with an iPhone or a MacBook Pro, similarly to how the first version of the Apple Watch worked.
The upcoming headset could also offer a mixed reality experience in gaming, which will be the company’s first product in this space, featuring a custom processor based on TSMC’s five-nanometre manufacturing process. The company will reportedly combine virtual reality and augmented reality to deliver an ultra-high resolution 8K display with swappable headbands.
Lastly, the Apple Mixed Reality headset is rumoured to have an advanced eye-tracking feature that will show images only on the part where the user is looking. It might also have a dozen cameras inside and out of the device for tracking hand movement and delivering a seamless experience.
Apple has earlier publicly acknowledged how critical AR/VR tech will be in the near future. Tech giants like Facebook (Meta), Sony, HTC, are the leading players in the augmented and virtual reality space, and now Apple is unleashing its first step.
Speculation is rife that Apple is planning to show off the mixed reality headset next year starting. If we go by the leak reports shared by a renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Cupertino giant aims to release the AR/VR headset by mid-2022, followed by an AR headset in 2025.
