The Quess Corp report reveals a significant upswing in demand for talent possessing specific tech skills. Tech proficiencies in areas such as SAP, Automotive Design, Testing, and Infra Support have witnessed a remarkable surge in demand. This surge is a testament to the growing importance of tech skills across various industries.
Upskilling as a Strategy:
As the skill gap in India continues to widen, companies have embraced upskilling as a strategic response. Upskilling initiatives have gained momentum in the past year, with organizations recognizing the need to bridge the gap between available talent and job market demands.
Tech Skills Driving Opportunity:
Vijay Sivaram, CEO of Quess IT Staffing, comments on the current landscape: Amid macroeconomic headwinds affecting the US and Europe, the IT services sector faces a downward hiring trend of 25–30 per cent. However, this situation has opened up new opportunities, with Global Capability Centres (GCCs) ramping up talent acquisition and projecting an estimated employee strength of 1.4 million, hiring is likely to increase by 10%. Our nation is currently at the forefront of global technology advancements, benefiting from the best demographic play and a highly educated STEM Talent Pool.”
He further adds, “The Indian stock markets continue to outperform, reflecting the confidence of investors in our thriving tech sector. As we witness substantial infrastructure changes all around us, Foreign Institutional Investments (FIIs) are pouring funds into India, bolstering our economy. India’s tech industry is well-positioned to overcome uncertainties and seize opportunities.”
Key Tech Skill Suites Driving Demand:
Development Roles (28%): Development roles account for the largest share of demand, with over 65 technical proficiencies and platforms sought after. Notably, Full-stack skills are in consistent and upward demand within the consulting, automotive, banking, and telecom sectors.
SAP Expertise (16%): The demand for SAP expertise remains consistently high, encompassing both development and implementation aspects. Consulting and GCC client domains have shown particular interest in these proficiencies.
Automotive Design (14%): The global and Indian automotive sectors are witnessing a surge in demand for talent, driven by digitization and the need for technologically adept skills. Proficiencies in Selenium, TOSCA, Workday, and ServiceNow are notably sought after.
IT Infrastructure Support Skills (8%): The demand for IT infrastructure across various industries remains consistent. This includes both L1 and L2 support roles, spanning a diverse range of over 30 aspects.
